 What are the antacids: 
Antacids are medication that neutralizes stomach acid to cut down on heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion and stomach upset. Some antacid also contains simethicone an ingredient that helps your body get rid of gas. 

Different types of antacids:
  Alka-seltzer.
  Milk of magnesia
  Alternegel.
  Gaviscon, Gelusil, Maalox, Mylanta, Rolaids
  Pepto-Bismol  Tums. 
Available antacid preparation in Bangladesh:

 Magnesium sulfate: it contains not less than 99% and not more than 100.5% of magnesium sulfate. 
Mol formula: Mgso4.7H2O 
Mole Weight:246.47

 Preparation:
 It can be prepared by mixing hot dilute sulphuric acid with magnesium carbonate or magnesium oxides. 
MgCO3  + H2So4  = MgSo4 + CO2 + H2O 
MgO + H2SO4 = MgSo4 + H2O 
Commercially it is manufactured by reacting sulphuric with dolominte. 
MgCO3.CaCO3 + H2SO4 =MgSO4 + CaSO4 + 2CO2+ 2H2O 

 Properties:
 It forms colorless prismatic crystals. It dissolves in water, is practically insoluble in alcohol. It has a cooling saline bitter taste.

 Pharmaceutical Application:
 Used as an osmotic laxative. Also used in the treatment of electrolyte deficiency   Cholecystitis hypertension. 

 Disodium Hydrogen Phosphate:

  mol formula Na2HPO4.12H2O

 It contains not less than 98.0% and not more than 101% of NaH2PO4

 Preparation: It is prepared by the reaction of the orthophosphoric acid calculated quantity of sodium hydroxide. 
2NaOH + H3PO4 =NaH2PO4 +  2H2O 
Properties: Colorless, odorless, crystalline powder. Soluble in water and practically insoluble in alcohol. 
Pharmaceutical Application: Used as saline cathartic. 

 Uses of various antacid:
  Aluminum antacids: Lower elevated blood phosphate levels and prevent the formation of kidney stones.
  Calcium carbonate antacids:  Treat calcium deficiency.  Magnesium oxide antacids:  tread magnesium deficiency. 

 Conclusion: 
Antacids also seem to help many of those with bloating or functional dyspepsia. By reducing gastric acidity antacids inactivate pepsin and relive symptoms on aloe an injured esophagus to heal.
